Chapter 12
Chapter 12 explains step by step how to develop a good thesis statement which is a a key component to any paper. First review you position statement because your thesis must match your position. review notes to have a very strong thesis with good evidence. Then reflect on your audience and consider your purpose. Lastly choosing a thesis statement and refining.

This chapter talks about how to present your work in different formats.

Revising and Editing
What should you focus on when revising your document?
considering your writing situation, and by that it means what is your purpose for writing for example. if you are writing to inform, read your paper and see if it is truly informing
Next consider your arguments and ideas, make sure they correlate with each other and are contradictive of one another.
Considering your integration of sources, by using more than just a couple throughout.

Designing Documents
This Chapter basically talks about how to make your paper look presentable by using key componets
Balance- The vertical and horizontal alignment of elements on your pages
Emphasis- The placement and formatting of elements such as heading and subheadings, so they catch your readers attention.
Placement- Placement is the location of elements on your pages.
Repetition- the use of elements such as headers and footers navigation menus and page numbers.
Consistency- the extent to which you format and place text and illustrations in the same way throughout your document.

Using Sources Effectively
First you need to introduce an idea or an argument, after the start contrasting ideas or arguments and then provide evidence.
It then talks about "aligning your argument with and Authority" which means a subject matter expert allowing you to borrow someone else ideas.

provide examples and amplify a point.
This chapter also talks a lot about quoting strategically and how to use parts of quotes and beginnings and ends.
Lastly how to punctuate quotes.

Chapter 19
Understanding Documentation Systems.
Basically this talks about all of the different formats from MLA and APA to Chicago and
CSE.
It distinguishes how and when to use each.
Chapter 20
After reading Chapter 20 it specifies all about MLA format and how to use it.
From basic format and quotation to how to cite when there is more than one author. Chapter 20 walks you through step by step to correctly use MLA formatting which is a good tool when constructing your bib.
Chapter 9
Searching for Information with Digital Resources.
This chapter explains how you can prepare to search using online databases, which was helpful when it came to searching for resources using the academic search premiere. It talks about each of the different online sources such as library catalogs, databases, and general web sites. I used this chapter to better my understanding of the advanced search on Academic Search Premier.
